Relatives Responsibilities
Medication - Relatives are requested to respect the member of staff carrying out the medication rounds. Enquiries should be taken to another member of staff or left until the medication has been completed.
Accidents - Relatives are asked to take care in the Home and in the grounds. Should an accident occur it is requested that a member of staff is informed and accident form completed.
Health & Safety - Relatives are requested to sign in the visitor’s book when entering the home and sign out when leaving; this ensures compliance with Fire Regulations.
Hospital Appointments and emergency calls - Relatives may be asked to escort their loved one to the hospital on appointments or in an emergency. As next of kin may have to make decisions and give consent to treatment that staff from the home are unable to do.
Wheelchairs - The Home makes every effort to ensure all provisions for Health care are met; however assessment for wheelchairs does not always result in one being issued. In such a case relatives may be asked to purchase one to enable their loved one to maintain their independence and social life.
Social Outings - Relatives are made aware of social outings that are organised. Consent is required for such outings and other short trips.
Concerns - Relatives should discuss any concerns they may have with the Management team.
Tolerance and Behaviour - Any adverse or abusive behaviour will not tolerated and the individual will be asked to leave the premises.
